About the FKMDS
Krav Maga Defense System Federation — Founded in 2007
Krav Maga Defense System Federation
The Krav-Maga K.M.D.S federation was created by instructors from different federations, who have been teaching the discipline for many years: initially Thierry Sirvent, Florian Lucas and Olivier Guénégan in 2007.
Tired of seeing the direction Krav Maga was taking in France and wanting to rediscover values that were gradually disappearing, replaced by others such as appearances and profit, we united to create a structure where moral, physical and technical values prevail.
In addition to Krav Maga, which is taught for professional purposes or for direct application in street confrontations, FKMDS has established a Competitors Division at the request of some students who compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Wrestling and Pankration in certain clubs.
FKMDS is affiliated with the French Karate Federation and Associated Disciplines (FFK).
Our Philosophy
We have only one goal: to progress through various training courses in France, abroad, and to continue developing by practicing a raw and open Krav Maga as it was taught to us years ago in our various federations.
The Krav-Maga Federation does not compete with anyone because we do not share the same objectives.
The only thing we want is to practice with a friendly and caring spirit — the rest does not interest us.

Become an Instructor
To become an instructor within FKMDS, there are first the selection tests which take place once a year in Paris.
During this day of tests you will be evaluated on several criteria:
- Physical tests
- Technical tests
- Aggression test
- Combat
- Interview with the jury
If you pass the tests, you can apply for the first part of the instructor course which grants the status of assistant instructor.
Krav Maga
Krav Maga was initially developed for the Israeli army and distributed privately as self-defense or for professional purposes for different units seeking a method that is quick, easy to learn and aimed at maximum efficiency.
Krav Maga means "contact combat" in Hebrew and was developed by IMI Lichtenfeld in the late 1940s.
Today's Krav Maga has evolved, just like the societies in which it is taught. However, it still relies on instincts, logic, biomechanics and aims to develop the technical, physical and mental qualities of practitioners.

This grading system (2015) preserves the original spirit we had with Philippe Kaddouch during the IKMF era, while allowing practitioners to transpose it to existing belt systems. It also facilitates welcoming practitioners from other federations.
We are not fanatics about belt examinations or rigid programs. However, some practitioners need visible milestones to build their Krav Maga. The program integrates "old school" Krav Maga while taking into account the most recent body types and combat trends.
Regardless of grade level, the student or instructor must fight in full contact, under conditions that preserve the physical integrity of the fighters.
